Q & A With Coach

What do you think makes you a great coach?

To me, a great coach is someone who provides challenging opportunities for his team, which in turn inspires them to believe in themselves. Great coaches don’t allow their players to become complacent. They push their players outside of their comfort zones, physically, mentally, and emotionally in order to get them most out of them.

What is your favorite quote?

"The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will."

Vince Lombardi

Who is your favorite coach?

Mike Brey and Roy Williams

Who is your favorite NBA player and why?

Michael Jordan is my all-time favorite athlete. He was a fierce competitor and would always give 100% when he took the floor.

Who are your role models?

My parents, Rick and Lynn Passarelli, are both my role models and heroes.

How do you measure the success of your players?

I measure a player’s success by how much they grow not only as athletes during the season, but as a person as well. I want them to work hard and succeed in whatever they choose to do.

Who inspires you?

Doubters inspire me! I wasn’t always the biggest or strongest athlete, but all the people who doubted me gave me the extra motivation I needed to earn a Division I scholarship. They still inspire me to this day.
